Queen’s has 17 unique residence buildings built between 1925 – 2022. Each building varies in size, layout, and room furnishings. Design elements such as flooring type, window sizes and window coverings, and storage solutions change from room to room.

Queen’s University Residences offers a variety of six room configurations and four bathroom types providing options to suit your preferences.
Single – A single room is for one resident only. Single rooms have either a communal, private or single-user private washroom
Single Plus – A single room with an adjoining bathroom shared with one other room of the same identified gender. Roommate requests are not available for this room type.
Double – A double room is shared between two residents of the same identified gender. This room type could have a communal or single-user private washroom.
Loft Double – A loft double room is a single room that has been converted into a double room with bunk beds, shared between two residents of the same identified gender. This room type could have a communal or single-user private washroom.
Triple – A triple room is shared between three residents of the same identified gender. This room type could have a communal or single-user private washroom.
Quad – A quad room is shared between four residents of the identified same gender. This room type could have a communal, or single user private washroom
Private – washrooms are located within the bedroom space for exclusive use.
Private single-user – private washrooms that are not attached to the bedroom and are shared between all students on the floor. Only one student uses a private toilet and shower room at a time.
Semi-private – washrooms are located between two single plus rooms and are shared between those two students only.
Communal – washrooms are shared by a floor or wing
. Multiple private shower and toilet stalls and communal sinks are shared between all students.
