Move-in Tips
- Anyone planning to move you to Kingston and stay overnight should book accommodations early – local hotels book up quickly! Click here for a list of places to stay. Please note that rooms are not available until the morning of move-in day.
- Move-in begins at 7:30 a.m. – click here for a campus map (volunteers will also be available to guide you in the right direction).
- Please remember to move your car as soon as you have unloaded it to allow others to also move in – click here for a list of parking areas on main campus and click here for a list of parking areas on west campus. You do not require a parking permit for surface lots on move-in day (underground garages may charge a fee).
- There are a few carts available – but you may want to bring a portable luggage cart if you have one (note: not all buildings have elevators – click hereto see if your building has one).
- If someone is helping you move in, consider asking them to take boxes and extra items home with them, as there is no storage in residence.
- Volunteers will be available to help you by opening doors, offering advice, etc., but cannot move your belongings in for you – if you need specific assistance moving in, please contact us in advance at : 613-533-2550.
- Please don’t bring the family pet – residences are animal-free (except for service animals).
- Queen’s is committed to recycling – please take boxes and packing materials back home to re-use next April!
